March 27th 11:15 am - Rama Navami is being celebrated in prasanthi nilayam today.

This morning the bhajans went on till 10:30 am and not the usual 9:30 am. Swami sat inside the bhajan halls and called the elderly in Sai Kulwant Hall and presented them with gifts. The were given boxes inside which there were statues of God like Vinayaka, Rama etc. Many elderly who were at the event got suprise gifts on this special day.

There are programs this evening at 3:00 pm. We will bring more information after the event.

This Evening Swami gave a discourse as part of the Sri Rama Navami Celebrations. Swami told the story of Rama Navami and about Goddess Sita. After the discourse bhajans began and prasadam was distributed to some devotees after the event.

March 26th 11:15 am - The weather seems to be getting hotter by the day .

Even locals like me are feeling the heat. It seems to be getting very hot and humid this year, the temperature now is around 35 degree to 40 degrees, and it will only get hotter from now on. This is also the time of the year the big banyan tree inside mandir looses all its leaves. And within few days grows back all the leaves fully. The entrance to mandir is full of dried leaves from the tree. You might be wondering why are we writing about a tree. It's beautiful to watch its transformation in couple of weeks. It looses all its leaves and grows new ones back, its like leaving all the bad leaves and growing new ones. May be humans should be like this leave all your bad qualities and try to become a better person every year, and its also a slow news week in Puttaparthi. There are a lot of rumors about Swami's journey but nothing certain yet. So keep reading and we will keep you informed and also watch out for the picture of the tree blossoming in a couple of days.

March 22nd 8:30 pm - Cutural programs this evening in Mandir.

This evening there was a drama in mandir about meera bhai. Students performed the drama and sang some nice bhajans of meera bhai during the program, after the drama bhajans continued as usual.

March 20th 12:45 pm - Ugadi is celebrated in Prasanthi Nilayam today.

This morning the Ugadi (Telugu New Year) celebrations began at 8:00 am in the morning. Sai Kulwant Hall was filled with devotees waiting to get a glimpse of Swami on this first day of Telugu New Year. Swami arrived into Sai Kulwant Hall soon after that giving all a very good darshan. As part of the morning celebrations Swami gave a discourse, in which Swami talked about coming year. Swami said that this coming year will be a good one for all of us. Swami also talked about some of the things that happened in Chennai and also about the future trip to parts of Andhra Pradesh. No specific time or date was given. Morning event lasted till 11:00 am. After the event prasadam was distributed in Sai Kulwant Hall, more sweets are being distributed in the canteen.

Swami gave another discourse this evening. Swami said that swami would be soon visiting Anantapur, which is the place where Swami women's college is located. Swami also presented devotees with carts and other instruments so that they can improve their livelihood. There are quite a few devotees from anantapur region for ugadi celebrations here in prasanthi nilayam. They even sang some bhajans in the evening, which were really beautiful. March 8th 10:45 am - Performance by the students yesterday evening.

Yesterday evening there was a drama performance by the students in mandir. There were no costumes as such. but it was a nice performance. After the event ladoos were distributed to all.

March 5th 10:45 am - Swami came for visit outside mandir this morning

After quite a few days this morning Swami came for visit outside mandir during the morning bhajans. Swami came outside mandir at 9:15 am giving all those devotees who were on the main road a very good darshan. Swami returned back to mandir as the bhajans were going on, bhajans ended at 10:00 am.

March 4th 7:45 pm - Cutural programs as part of Holi celebrations in Puttaparthi

This evening too there were cutural events as part of Holi celebrations. There was a drama about Human Values. After the drama Swami went inside the bhajan hall and the bhajans went on for nearly an hour. The event ended at 6:45 pm. The last few days the evening programs are very long, going on till 6:00 pm, which is nice for all those devotees, who are here not expecting many events at this time of the year.

This morning too there were more events in Puttaparthi, the programs were done by the devotees from Bihar region of India. This was part of the holi celebrations.

March 3rd 8:00 pm - Program by devotees from Andhra Pradesh this evening in mandir

This evening in mandir there were program by the devotees from Andhra Pradesh. The name of the program was "Jagruti" (Awakening), it was a musical dance drama. There was a band performance, Vedic chanting, Speech, Chakka Bhajana (a form of folk dance) and the musical dance drama called "Jagruthi". After the event Swami presented them with clothes. Prasadam called putha rakullu were distributed after the event.
