January 31st 1:30 pm - Swami arrives in Puttaparthi
After 11 day visit to Chennai for Athi Rudra Mahayagnam, Swami just returned to Puttaparthi. Swami left Chennai this morning at 11:30 am and reached Puttaparthi by 1:00 pm. Puttaparthi was waiting for Swami's arrival. All the roads were decorated with banners welcoming Swami and also with mango leaves decorations. Ladies put beautiful rangoli and transformed the black roads into beautiful color carpets for Swami. Swami arrived around 1:00 pm giving all the devotees a good darshan. Swami car was covered with flowers that were offered by the devotees who were on the either side of the road. You never knew there were this many people still in Puttaparthi all these 11 days. Puttaparthi has got its shine back with Swami's arrival.

January 31st 10:30 am - Day 11 of the Athi Rudra Mahayagnam in Chennai
It is tempting to say it is over. But it really is just beginning.
The yagna ended before noon today. At Baba's request we observed two minutes of silence at 11 A.M. - an auspicious moment. I think it was Baba's way of blessing all of us.
Later, Baba came down to the yagna area to participate with some rituals and proceeded to travel to the women's side then the men. Accompanying him were pundits carrying large bowls of liquid from the yagna.
When Baba returned to the stage, these pundits walked the same path sprinkling-blessing everyone. There was a large crowd and prasadam in the way of rice and sweets on a leaf was provided for everyone.
In the evening Mumbai made a request to host the next yagna at whatever timing Baba chose.
Baba had stated that he wanted the yagna performed in every state in India.
Baba gave a short discourse. I think everyone feels different. I understood that the yagna cleans all your sins. I think I am finally purer than Ivory soap.
The reason for saying this is just the beginning is we are going to see a new world emerge because of the yagnas. It will be peaceful, harmonious and environmental pure. The process has begun but the effects linger into the future. As more yagnas are done the effects get stronger.

January 30th 6:45 pm - Athi Rudra Mahayagnam finishes in Chennai
After 11 days of Yagnam and Rudram Chantings the yagnam ended in Chennai today with Poornahuthi. After 10 years Swami blessed the devotees in Chennai with a grand Athi Rudra Mahayagnam. Which was very well attended and organised by the devotees and officials in Chennai. Like all good thing have to come to an end this event is also ending today. There are already reports coming that Swami will come to Puttaparthi tomorrow.
January 30th 6:30 pm - Day 11 at Athi Rudra Mahayagnam in Chennai
The Yagna sala and halls were fully occupied before Swamy arrived at 10.45am.
After Swamy came, Bhajans, nadaswaram and Vedas were simultaneously on which sounded unique. Later Swamy came down the ramp to the Lingam and performed the purnahuthi.
The event was such a grand one and later Swamy went around all sides and gave a gracious darshan.
Later He had aarthi and left the site at 12.15 p.m.
Chakra pongal and Tomato Rice was distributed to all devotees as Prasadam. Every devotee went home with great happiness as Swamy gave a fine darshan.
There was an announcement that there would be programme in the evening and Swamy may give a discourse.
The Lingam is likely to be taken to Sundaram tomorrow morning and as at now Swamy is leaving by a charter flight before noon itself to Puttaparthi as per reliable sources.
Because Swamy had finished the private visits to the Residence of Chancellor of Ramachandra Medical University, Sankara Netralaya and State President Mr Ramani.
Chennai has been blessed by his divine presence and thanks to Swamy Chennai would not have any more water problem.

January 29th 12:30 pm - Day 10 at Athi Rudra Mahayagnam in Chennai
Day 10 of the Athi Rudra Mahayagnam continues in Chennai. We have received a small video of
Swami coming to the venue of Athi Rudra Mahayagnam in Chennai. You can see Swami's car going
into a road that leads to the venue. You can also see devotees line up the street just like in Puttaparthi for Swami's darshan. Swami comes twice everyday to the venue for the events, once in the morning around the bhajan time in Puttaparthi 9:00 am or so and then in the evening around 3:00 pm.

January 27th 6:30 pm - Day 7 & Day 8 at Athi Rudra Mahayagnam in Chennai
Day 7
The Morning session went off well but the devotees had to endure another make do without Bhagawan’s Divine darshan. The activities are said to have been concluded at around 11 AM after Mangalaarathi to shiva lingam
Evening session had packed crowds filling every available inch of space in the venue so much so that hundreds had to stand outside the mantapam including ‘yours faithfully’. I managed to get into the hall somewhere down the side flank by ariy\und 5:30 and listened to some wonderful narration of Ghanapatham.
Bhajans by Sundaram group was as melodious as can be expected, a fine mix of good and old.
As the number ‘Aao aao Sai natha’ ended and another Bhajan started, there was a flurry of activity that marks Swami’s motorcade entering the premises.
Swami arrived to the huge relief of the mammoth crowd at around 6:15 pm and the evening programme started with speeches by two members of the Sathya sai organizations. The leader of Sai Youth the main Organizers of this excellent event spoke on their experiences during the execution of this Yagnam at Swami’s behest. He explained that almost every member felt the flow of His divine Love during their three month hard work. The second speaker was sri Krishna murthy, Ex sathya sai organizations TN. Soon after, Swami permitted Ustad Rashid Khan of Hindustani Music fame to render a programme. The Revered Ustad presented some marvelously devotional and melodious pieces with lyrics that “sainath sairam..Tere Bina”…etc
Then Swami called him over and presented him with a ring that He materialized for his finger which the singer accepted with utmost humility and devotion. A Tabla artiste Bandhopadhyay was also called over by Swami Himself and offered one more Swami’s materialized finger ring.
The concert ended with the evergreen Bhajan "Ram rathan dhan paayo".
End of the day’s proceedings and the enchanted huge crowd took more than an hour to clear out.
Day 8:
The Morning’s Aruna parayana was being recited as I entered a near empty hall at 5:45 am, quite a contrast to last evening’s almost unmanageable rush.
The eleven time Rudram with clockwork precision and like machine gun speed rang out wonderfully from the throats. Each recital of Namakam follows ioth one anuvalla of Chamakam and the finale was aof course rudra homam and Sai gayathri Homam.
It was nearing 11 am and crowd was getting desperate for Swami when He arrived to bless the gathering and took Mangalaarathi and left. It was a brief but fulfilling darshan of our Swami.

January 26th 9:30 pm - Sachin Tendulkar and Rajnikanth comes for Swami's darshan in Chennai
Huge crowds gathered to have a darshan of Bhagwan Satya Sai Baba. The Republic Day holiday enabled devotees to gather in large numbers at "SUNDARAM", Baba's residence and `Yagna Sthal' at Tiruvanmiyur.
Baba in response moved around the devotees ignoring the bright sun, blessed the huge gathering and received their letters.
Among the devotees were noted film actor Shri Rajini Kant along with his family in the morning. Shri Tendulkar, Vice Captain of Indian Cricket Team, now here to play the Third One Day International against West Indies visited the ashram in the evening.
January 25th 6:30 pm - Day 5 at Athi Rudra Mahayagnam in Chennai
The Morning session ( with inputs from others) went off on schedule with Aruna parayana, Rudra and Chamakam chanting and the two Homas to Rudra and Sai gayathri.
Swami arrived at around 11 and stayed for 45 minutes , Bhajans were sung in His presence and Swami took Mangalarathi and left. The sounds and vibrations are thrilling everyone and the crowd seems to be constant during working days or otherwise.
The evening session after the one round of Rudra and chamakam started with Swami's arrival at 5-40 Pm or so. Two students were allowed to speak.
One of them spoke with passion in Telugu (Quite a few understood that here too) about sai mata and his benevolence..
The speakers do a good job but their voices seems to me to be unusually high pitched and loud. May be they carried away in His presence.
The second speaker, also a student spoke in English with the standard phrase and expressions we hear from Prof Anil Kumar usually during translations, which seemed to have been integrated by this speaker truly.
He said that Swami asked him during a recent Sports day practice, whether he is speaking, the answer to which of course was, "He" was speaking and we are only his mouth pieces.
There was no other programme for the evening. The wait for a Swami's discourse still continues with fond hopes. Only He knows when He will deliver a speech.
"Om Jai jagadeesha hare", the mangala arathi was sung and swami blessed everyone and left at around 6-45 PM
Again coconut barfi was distributed as Prasadam by Seva dal at the exit.
Some notes to Visitors:
One cannot be too careful about their footwear though.
There is no standard chappal stand here and we have to use the road side.
The Mobile phones can be carried inside but needs to be switched off.
Books can be carried inside too with request.
The Police have put up an outpost just at the entrance and they have microphones to announce and we can use their help to search for missing ones and for informing someone to come over there.

January 24th 8:30 pm - Day 4 at Athi Rudra Mahayagnam in Chennai
The Morning session went off with the usual Aruna Parayana, Rudra and Chamakam - chanting 11 times and the regular Yagnam to Rudra and Sai gayathri.
Devotees who had thronged the venue even on this mid-week day waited patiently and fondly to have Swami's Darshan, but then that was not to be.
It was learnt later that He went over to Sankara Nethralaya, a charitable Eye hospital famous in the city to bless the venue. So there was no darshan in the morning session at Yagnam.
The afternoon session, of course started on time and with clockwork precision, Ritwiks now familiar with the routine made it a fine job with their enthusiasm and dedication. Swami arrived as a wave of cheer and alertness came over the audience at evening 5:45 PM. It was a late but welcome darshan for the day.
As soon as swami's wheel chair was rolled into the stage center, Music programme for the day commenced with the Malaysia Vasudevan and troupe. He rendered some soulful and melodious numbers with a great variety and full of devotion. He was ably backed by Tabla and other accompaniments. Many were composed on Sathya sai describing Him as Mata, pita and Guru and embodiment of divine Love in both Tamil and Telugu languages.
One would have thought the end of the concert marked the end of evening visit too, but Swami permitted some students from Prasanthi nilayam campus to render devotional songs as well.
The students introduced to us as Guru Prasad and Ashwathnarayana and Others gave a rousing and excellent musical programme. Their voices filled with love and devotion for Swami moved almost everyone to tears. Their Voices resonated and vibrated across the hall filling everyone with joy. The performances of our Sai students have been unparallel and match any veteran and popular Professional artiste.
Some of the memorable numbers rendered included 'Chintanai sei maname' and a popular Tamil fim song -" Amma endru alaikkatha uyir illeye".
Swami was moved too and beckoned them to sing one more song. Later they were deservedly blessed by Bhagawan with golden chains as they prostrated at His feet. This concluded the evening session at a time as late as 7-15 PM. The surging crowds took a near half hour to vacate the venue and a sweet 'Kopra mithaai'( Burfi) was distributed by Seva Dal at the Gate.

We are back from Chennai after a three day visit. The Athi Rudra Mahayagnam continues. We will be putting the picture that we took in Chennai soon. Here are the events that happened which we couldn't update because we were in Chennai.
Devotion knows no limits. The residents of Chennai will vouch for it now more than ever.
Almost every inch of liveable space in the Tamil Nadu capital now seems to be occupied by a Sathya Sai Baba devotee.
Thanks to the Baba’s Athi Rudra Yagna being conducted for world peace in a city suburb, Chennai is bursting at its seams and hoteliers are doing a brisk business.
Ashok Sairam, one among the nearly 60,000 devotees, has come 500 km from his hometown Salem to catch a glimpse of his God.

January 21st 10:30 am - Tirupathi Devasthanam request Swami help with the water project
Yesterday officials from Tirupathi Devasthanam in Tirupathi were here in Chennai to meet Swami and request for Swami's help with the water project to supply drinking water to the devotees in Tirupati. They asked for donation of 800 Crorers for the water project and Swami's blessings to complete it. The official also said that Swami enquired him about the free weddings that Tirupathi Devasthanam was conducting. The official said that Swami smiled and accepted their request.

January 20th 2:30 pm - Athi Rudra Mahayagnam begins grandly in Chennai
This morning i arrived at the venue around 8:00 am. All along the way you could see boards about the event with a picture of Swami's blessing on it. Once you reach the area the place is on the left side of the road. The whole road is blocked so that devotees could walk easily to the venue. Once i reached the venue, all the devotees were waiting for swami to arrive. 10 minutes after that swami arrived, since most devotees were sitting at event venue we got a very good darshan of swami. Then we immediately went inside the event venue. Let me tell you about the venue. Its as big as or if not bigger than the sai kulwant hall with three halls. One for ladies, one for gents and the middle one is being used for yagnam and vips. Its decorated with flowers and other decorations. As swami entered the venue the chaotings began, swami sat on the dias. There was a song offering swami "koti pranamam", it was a beautiful song. After that swami came down the dias and blessed the yagnam. And walked up to the yagna gundam and blessed again. Then swami came through the lines to give darshan both on men's side and ladies side. Then swami returned to the dias and two devotees gave speeches both of them thanked swami for coming to chennai after 10 years. After that swami left the event venue as the yagnam was continuing. All the arrangements were done well. There were many sevadals more than willing to help. Some people don't get to see this once in their life. So can't thank swami enough. You shouldn't miss it if you are in chennai.
January 19th 2:30 pm - Swami left Puttaparthi at 1:30 pm this afternoon
Sathya Sai Baba left Puttaparthi this afternoon at 1:30 pm on a flight to Chennai. Swami is expected to start the Athi Rudra Mahayagnam in Chennai tomorrow morning. The flight is expected to take around 2 hours. We are not sure if Swami will stay all the 11 days of the yagnam in Chennai or not, we will keep your posted as we get more information.
If anyone from Chennai is readying this please keep us posted. One of us is also going in person to the event in Chennai. So we will be posting more about the proceedings there tomorrow evening after the event.

January 19th 12:30 pm - Sathya Sai Baba has left Prasanthi Nilayam for Chennai
Sathya Sai Baba left Prasanthi Nilayam for the airport at 12:30 pm this afternoon. Swami is on his way to Chennai where Athi Rudra Mahayagnam will be happening from 20th January. Swami will be boarding a plane in Puttaparthi airport that will take Swami to Chennai. Little later we will be posting pictures from the airport.
January 18th 11:30 am - First update from Chennai, preparations of Athi Rudra Mahayagnam
Visited the ARMY venue yesterday and found the main road to the venue has been beautifully decorated with sign posts with swamy's saying on both sides of the road.( just like parthi). The place is quite huge like poornachandra hall but sitting arrangements are more like whitefield. The whole area has been transformed like parthi or whitefield with beautiful large pictures of SWAMY and quotes. The homa gundams are in place and the back drop in the stage is more like whitefield with sculpted images on the wall. Apart from the hall outside open place also is available extra people with barricade enclosures for 200 people in each enclosures for special pass (perhaps) there is a metal road near the open barricase enclosures seperating the hall and the enclosures(perhaps swamy can travel by car for giving darshan) We pray for that. It is going to be an event first of its kind in chennai. The whole place full of people and sevadals in hundreds are pouring in daily. There is a beautiful house inside the venue and bhagwan may stay there or sundaram or in actor Anjali devi's house it is speculated.
There is going to be a huge canteen like parthi and is speculated to offer the same service at same charges. Report by Mr.Easwar.S.S.
January 18th 10:00 am - Chief Ministers, Union Ministers to felicitate Sathya Sai Baba
The Chief Ministers of four States, at least three Union Ministers and many State Ministers are likely to be present at a function to felicitate Sri Sathya Sai Baba, whose work in strengthening the Sai Ganga Canal has resulted in a good water supply scheme for Chennai.
Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi along with his counterparts in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra, will, participate in the meeting on January 21, organised by the Chennai Citizens Conclave, to thank the religious leader based in Andhra Pradesh.
Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil, Railway Minister Lalu Prasad and IT and Communications Minister Dayanidhi Maran, the Governors of Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu have also consented to participate, according to V. Srinivasan, all India president, Sathya Sai Seva Organisations.
Donation from Trust
A length of 150 km along the Sai Ganga Canal, from the Kandaleru Reservoir to Poondi was strengthened, as directed by Sri Sathya Sai Baba, Mr.Srinivasan said.
The project was executed at a cost of Rs.200 crore, mostly received as donations to the Trust.
With this, the actual realisation of water in Tamil Nadu will be 12 thousand million cubic feet, just three tmcft short of the total water released by the three States of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra (at the rate of 5 tmcft per State), he said.

January 18th 10:00 am - Swami came for a visit this morning
This morning Swami came outside mandir at 9:00 am as the bhajans began. And returned back to mandir at 9:15 am. It was a breif 15 minutes visit. Many devotees are planning to go to chennai, some of them have already left Puttaparthi for Chennai so that they could get good places near the place where the yagnam is happening.

January 17th 10:30 am - Andhra Pradesh Cheif Minister was in Puttaparthi
Yesterday afternoon Andhra Pradesh Cheif Minister was here to start the construction work on a four lane road from Railway Station to Gokulam in Puttaparthi. After the event he also visited Swami in Sai Kulwant Hall for darshan. After receiving darshan he left Puttaparthi in the evening.

Now you can fly to Puttaparthi airport directly from 21st January to 23rd March on Kingfisher Airlines. They are offering two flights from bangalore and hyderabad. The flights will three times in a week.

January 15th 7:40 pm - Evening programs for Sankranti in Puttaparthi
This evening there was a drama by the students from Sri Sathya Sai Higher learning. They drama was about Lord Krishna's role in Mahabharata. The theme of the drama was "God always stays on the side of Dharma". This drama was performed in parts. After the drama Swami took photos with the students. And prasadam was given to the students only. Thus ending this year’s Sankranthi Celebrations in Puttaparthi. The students of Anantapur campus are already leaving Puttaparthi, after their weeklong stay in Puttaparthi for sports day and sankranthi. The next event is Athi Rudra Mahayagnam, which will be conducted in Chennai.
January 15th 1:00 pm - It's Sankranti in Puttaparthi
This morning Swami came to Sai Kulwant Hall at 8:00 am. Beginning the Sankranthi celebrations here in Puttaparthi. Swami presented the students of Sri Sathya Sai Higher Learning, Prasanthi Nilayam Campus, Brindavan Campus, Anantapur Campus and the Primary School with cups for their performances in sports. Swami also gave a discourse in which Swami talked about the drama that took place last night in Sai Kulwant Hall. Swami said that Swami was going to Chennai to fulfill a promise, Swami made 10 years back to the devotees in chennai of providing drinking water facility. Swami said that this project has been completed at the cost of 3 crores. There was also a speech by a devotee this morning. After the event prasadam was distributed. Swami left Sai Kulwant Hall at 10:30 am. More programs are expected this evening.

January 13th 11:30 am - Sports Day Evening program in Puttaparthi
Yesterday evening programs began at 3:30 pm. The girls from Sri Sathya Sai Higher Learning, Anantapur campus did some event with colorful dress and dance. After their event the program of children from Sri Sathya Sai Primary School began their programs, they had very colorful program too. The events ended in the stadium at around 5:40 pm. Swami returned to mandir with the motorbike escorts for the last time.

January 12th 10:30 am - Its Sports Day in Puttaparthi
This morning the events began as Swami entered the packed hill view stadium at 7:30 am. The students and devotees were eagerly waiting for Swami's arrival. Swami arrived with the escorts on motorbike and the marching bands. Once Swami was seated on the dais, the march past began. After that Swami lighted the flame, which was taken, up the hill by a bird, and the sports flame was ignited. Then the events began, the students from Sri Sathya Sai Higher Learning, Brindavan Campus performed all kind of programs, like Para-gliding, dances, acrobats etc. After their event the students from Sri Sathya Sai Higher Learning, Prasanthi Nilayam Campus, performed for Swami. They too performed acrobatics, marshal arts and stunts on high wires and jeeps. They ended their program with a group pranam to Swami. After aarathi at 8:30 am Swami left the hill view stadium. There will be more programs in the evening at 3:30 pm at the hill view stadium in Puttaparthi.

Today Swami came twice outside mandir, once before morning bhajans and evening after darshan. And Swami returned back to mandir at 5:00 pm, soon after that the bhajans began. Tomorrow is Sports Day in Puttaparthi. There are many devotees here in Puttaparthi for the event and many parents are also here to watch their children perform. The events tomorrow will began early in the morning around 7:00 am. We will keep you informed there will be two updates tomorrow hopefully with some good pictures.

January 10th 7:00 pm - Sports practice continues in Sathya Sai Baba's divine presence
Today Swami came twice outside mandir to check on the practices that were going on for sports day in the stadium. Morning before the bhajans and evening after the darshan. Both time giving up close darshan to many devotees who were waiting on the road. Both the times Swami was escorted by students on motorbikes, while returning back to mandir. Today we could see students doing practices on gliders over the stadium. So it will be exciting programs this year. We will bring you some pictures tomorrow. We have some pictures of Swami watching the sports practice at the hill view stadium this evening. The sports day is on January 12th.

January 8th 6:00 pm - The Sports day will be on January 12th and not on 11th
This year the sports day will be on January 12th and not the usual 11th. The reason for it is that Astami this year falls on January 11th so the sports day is being held a day later. This morning too Swami came for a visit outside mandir at 8:45 am and only returned back to mandir at 9:30 am, the bhajans went on still Swami came back to mandir. And ended at 9:45 am.
January 7th 2:00 pm - Swami came for a brief visit outside mandir this morning
This morning also Swami came for a brief 15 minutes visit outside mandir before morning bhajans. And while returning students were escorting Swami back to mandir on motorbikes from inside mandir. The students from Sri Sathya Sai Women’s college, Anantapur campus have also started arriving in Puttaparthi for practicing for the sports day events.

Yesterday evening before the bhajans Swami came for a visit outside mandir. While going for the visit Swami went from outside mandir. But while returning Swami returned from inside mandir and was escorted by students from Sri Sathya Sai Higher Learning on motorbikes. They are practising escorting Swami on motorbikes for Sports day.
January 4th 12:00 pm - Swami came for a visit outside mandir this morning
This morning at 8:55 am Swami came for a visit outside mandir, many devotees who were going for bhajans got very good darshan. Swami returned back to mandir as the bhajans were going on at 9:20 am. The bhajans ended with aarathi at 9:35 am. Swami usually makes many trips outside mandir this time of the year to watch the practices and the preparations of the students, who are getting ready for the sports day, which is on January 11th.

Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala has said that the message of Sai Baba should be spread to nook and corners of the country in order to maintain ethnic tolerance, peace and unity.
Not only Nepal but the entire world needs peace, ethnic tolerance and unity at this moment,"he said inaugurating the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Satya Sai Kendra here Saturday.
He said that spreading the message of peace and brotherhood would help in establishing peace in the country as well as the entire world.

This morning too the bhajans went on till 10:10 am. Swami was giving interview to the old students. So the bhajans went 40 minutes long.
January 1st 10:00 am - The first pictures from Puttaparthi for the year 2007.
This morning Swami came into Sai Kulwant Hall at 7:30 am. The chanting of mantras began as Swami entered Sai Kulwant Hall. Swami gave a glorious darshan to all the devotees on this pleasant morning of this New Year 2007. Then there were some songs sung as part of the celebrations. After that the Sri Sathya Sai Higher Learning marching band performed for Swami for some time. Then the bhajans began, the first bhajan of this New Year was “Gapathi om”. Prasadam was distributed to all the devotees. 2007 Calendars were also part of the prasadam. Swami left to Yajur Mandiram (swami's home) after one bhajan and aarathi.
